Volunteer With
Manta Rays
and Whale Sharks
Join our volunteer programme and meet the ocean's giants from up close!
The waters off southern Mozambique are amongst the most biodiverse in the world and are home to some of the rarest and largest species of shark, ray, whale, and dolphin. Our research programme is the perfect opportunity to study them in their natural habitat and contribute to research and conservation efforts.
Participating in this programme will put you in the shoes of a marine biologist. During boat-based expeditions, you will gather various types of data and observe whale sharks, manta rays, and dolphins in the wild. Snorkel alongside them and take note of size, sex, and identifying features, and return to base to upload your data to online databases.
Why Volunteer?
By the end of your volunteer programme, you will have gained insight into what it really means to do research with megafauna in the field, and what can be achieved with this research to reach conservation goals. You will be an integral part of our team and will witness the amazing variety the Mozambican underwater world has to offer. Whether you are looking to deepen your understanding of marine ecosystems or just "dipping your toes" in marine research, you are sure to leave with lifetime memories of adventures with new friends in the Indian Ocean.
